Biography
Graham Rounthwaite is a fashion illustrator and magazine Art Director of the highest calibre. Rounthwaite was the founding Art Director for Trace magazine, where he set it apart from the other hip hop magazines of the time with an innovative graphic approach. In 1999, Rounthwaite moved on to become the co-Art Director of The Face magazine with Craig Tilford. During this period, the magazine achieved constantly high standards of photography, art direction and design. Routhwaite and The Face won awards for art direction, photography, design, covers and typography from the PPA, MDA and Total Publishing Awards. Upon leaving The Face, Rounthwaite was recruited to work at america magazine and, together with Editor in Chief Smokey Fontaine, helped create a "cultural fusion between the upscale urban US music industry and the high-end fashion market." After america folded Rounthwaite teamed back up with Fontaine on the relaunch and market repositioning of the New York-based Giant magazine. Rounthwaite is also a renowned fashion illustrator. His artwork has proved incredibly influential and his style has helped define a genre in the modern illustration industry. His work has been featured in numerous catalogues, books and exhibitions worldwide. His illustrations have been honoured with awards from D&AD and the Art Directors Club of New York.
